November News

Dear Families,

We hope you enjoyed this brisk fall weekend – have fun again tomorrow on the school holiday! (Yes, remember there is no school on Veterans Day.)

A few reminders for this week:

- Don’t forget to send in your spare change for the Penny Harvest. Our Student Council is working hard on this fund-raising effort, so please send in any pennies (or any other coins or bills!) for your child to put into the jar.

- Thursday is a half day, with noon dismissal, in order to accommodate parent-teacher conferences. You should have gotten your appointment time from your child’s teacher by now. If you haven’t, please contact the teacher to confirm your appointment time.

- Our annual Harvest Bake Sale will take place during parent-teacher conferences. We’d appreciate any donations of baked goods you can send in that morning with your child.

- The School Leadership Team (SLT) will hold its next meeting this Friday at 7:40 am. Meetings are always open to any parent who would like to observe.

- Mark your calendars for NEXT Thursday, 11/21, when we have our next PTA meeting.

We’d also like to remind you of several ways you can contribute to PS41 without spending a dime. Register your Stop and Shop card, or your Target Red Card, and every purchase will earn money for our school. During the upcoming holiday shopping season, those extra dollars you spend could help boost our fund-raising efforts. See for details.

Box Tops and Labels for Education
Don’t forget to keep saving those Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education. If you shop online, consider signing up at and starting from there when you start your online shopping. Purchases you make at participating sites, include Lands End, Gap, Best Buy, and lots more, all earn points. There are also frequent bonus offers that earn extra points — subscribe to their emails to find out when there’s a bonus offer going on.

A New Fund-Raising App: SHOPAROO
A couple of us have been testing Shoparoo, a new app that earns money for schools when you upload receipts from your grocery shopping trips. Check out for details, but it’s basically an app that lets you take photos of your receipts on your smartphone and earn points for what you’ve spent. It’s quick and easy, and you can cross out anything on the receipt you don’t want to share with the marketers. (You don’t have to ‘fess up to just how many Fun Size candies you bought for Halloween!)

See you at school,

Roseann Foley Henry
