December 8th - Family Friday @ PS41 (8:30am-9:30am ) Come observe the fabulous teachers of PS41 as they work their magic in the classroom!;  Final date for the Girl Scout Daisies One Warm Coat drive: if you have an extra coat that’s gently used, please consider donating it!  Benefits families in Queens on behalf of the River Fund.  Donation box is located in auditorium.  Also accepting hats, gloves, scarves & mittens!
December 11 - 5th Grade Ballroom Recital
December 13th - Parent/Child Workshop @ PS41:  “Book Making” (7pm)
December 15th - Pajama Day, sponsored by the Student Council, come to school in your favorite jammies!; 5th Grade Holiday Feast @ PS41 during both lunch periods in the auditorium; Night of Giving @ PS41 (7pm)
December 20th - School Leadership Team Meeting (SLT) (7:10am) *No PTA meeting this month*
December 21st - 2nd Grade Gingerbread Decorating Event @ PS41 (afternoon)
December 25th-January 1st - Winter Recess!  Enjoy the holidays, everyone! (school closed)
And finally, all month long the Student Council of PS41 is continuing to collect for the Penny Harvest.  Your donations will be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.  Thank you for your generosity!

New School Phone Number

Dear Parents:


P.S. 41 recently went through a phone system upgrade to fiber optic lines.  With the upgrade we needed to change our school phone number.  The new phone number is929-267-5940.  The old phone number will work for several months, but it will eventually stop working and direct you to call 929-267-5940.

City Councilman Paul Vallone Visit to PS 41Q

We are expecting a visit from our local City Councilman Paul Vallone today at pick-up. Councilman Vallone is excited to meet P.S. 41 families and to show his support for our school. All are invited to attend.

We have a month full of fun and important dates. Beginning with Election Day, November promises to be an exciting month.  Here are upcoming events at PS 41:

November 3Last day of first marking period.  Report cards will be distributed later this month.

November 7Election Day – Children are off from school today.  NYC polls are open from 6:00AM – 9:00PM.  Be sure to go out to cast your vote.

November 10Deadline for Excess Halloween Candy Donations – This is the last day to send in un-open Halloween candy for donation to The Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park.  Please help support this wonderful cause.

November 11Pancakes in Your Pajamas – Come join other PS 41 families for the “Pancakes In Your Pajamas” Fundraiser at Outback Steakhouse (Bay Terrace Shopping Center) from 8:00am – 10:00am. 

November 13 – November 17 – The PTA will be collecting donations for Hurricane Relief to help those recently affected. Additional detailed information will be sent home. 

November 14Report Cards distributed

November 14 – November 17 - Open School Week – Below is the schedule for each day.  The recommended time for visits is from 8:30am – 10:30 am on the suggested day.

November 14th- 4th and 5th grade

November 15th – 2nd grade and Kindergarten (2nd Grade parents must sign in at the main entrance first before walking to the portables)

November 16th – 3rd grade

November 17th – 1st grade

November 15Parent Child Art Workshop – “Self Portraits” at 7pm 

November 16 –  Parent Teacher Conferences:  Early Dismissal at 11:30 am

The new Student Led Parent Teacher Conferences will be held, by appointment, in two sessions, from 12:30 PM – 2:00PM and 4:30PM – 7:00PM.  Be sure to enjoy a sweet treat at the PTA Bake Sale, which will be set-up in the school lobby during the conferences.

November 17 –  Piggy Bank Club – Meeting at 7:00pm, the Piggy Bank Club is great for teaching kids to save and donate to social causes, such as Hurricane Relief.

November 19Morning at the Movies – This Sunday, fun for the entire family begins at 10:00 AM, featuring “The Star” and “Wonder” at MovieWorld Cinemas located at 242-02 61st Ave., Douglaston.  Flyers will be coming home in your children’s folders.    

November 23 & 24Thanksgiving Recess.  Happy Thanksgiving!!  School is closed.

November 26Morning at the Movies – This Sunday, fun for the entire family begins at 10:00 AM, featuring “Coco” at MovieWorld Cinemas located at 242-02 61st Ave., Douglaston.  Flyers will be coming home in your children’s folders.   

November 29School Leadership Teach meeting (SLT) At 7:10 am, the School Leadership Team will hold a meeting with the Principal, Mr. Ferrara.  The meeting is open to any parent who wishes to listen to a discussion about academic and curricular issues.

November 30Picture Re-take Day –If you want your child’s portrait retaken, please return your photo packet and all the portraits on this day, but keep the class picture as this is not retaken.  If your child was absent, please pick up a Portrait Order Form from the main office and make the necessary arrangement.

                          PTA Meeting – At 7:00 pm, get involved and join fellow parents at this month’s PTA meeting.  Learn all about the school happenings and how to enrich our children’s experience at PS 41.  Refreshments will be served and October Students of the Month will be honored.


Membership DuesIf you haven’t handed in your PTA membership, it’s not too late!  Please donate what you can.  Your support makes PTA funded activities possible and every dollar from the generous support of PS 41 families goes directly toward enriching our children’s experience at PS 41!
