When To Keep Your Child Home

Dear Parents:

 

Please follow the directions stated below to ensure that all of our children stay as healthy as possible.

 

When To Keep Your Child Home

CHICKEN POX 6 days after appearance of rash or when all pox are dry.
PINK EYE While signs of infection are present – need a doctor’s note.
STREP THROAT 24 hours after the start of antibiotics temperature must be normal.
FEVER Children should not be in school until they are without fever for 24 hours.
VOMITING 24 hours after they stop vomiting.
RINGWORM Must stay home until under treatment – need a doctor’s note.
IMPETIGO Must stay home until signs of infection are gone – need a doctor’s note.
COMMON COLD Although colds are not excludable, please try to be considerate of your child and the others in his/her class.Children coughing continuously should not be in school.

ANY CHILD WITH A SORE THROAT AND FEVER SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE DOCTOR FOR A THROAT CULTURE TO RULE OUT STREP THROAT.
